Philip S. Ulinski

In Memoriam:
Philip S. Ulinski
(Deceased May 25, 2010)

Philip S. UlinskiWe express our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Philip S. Ulinski, PhD, Professor Emeritus and former chair of the Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy, and the Committee on Computational Neuroscience, at the University of Chicago. Dr. Ulinski, who died May 25, 2010 at the age of 67, was a longtime lecturer in the Epic of Creation course offered by the Zygon Center for Religion and Science. His signature lecture on “The Evolution of the Brain” set an intimate portrait of human nature within the grand picture of cosmic and biological evolution. Dr. Gayle E. Woloschak, director of the Epic of Creation and currently associate director of the Zygon Center, noted that Dr. Ulinski taught with us “for as long as I can remember.” “He really loved the Epic,” recalled Dr. Philip Hefner, founding director of the Zygon Center. Dr. Ulinski will be much missed and long remembered here.
